Emilia Clarke's '70-set spy thriller has been axed after just one season. Ponies premiered earlier this year, and follows two secretaries at the US embassy in Moscow who become CIA operatives after their husbands die.
Clarke's Bea Grant and Twila Hasbeck (Haley Lu Richardson) then begin to operate in the Russian capital, and try to get to the bottom of the deaths while also uncovering a conspiracy.
The Peacock show debuted to a very positive reception, sitting at a near-perfect 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though it seems that wasn't enough to land a second run, with the streamer now deciding to cancel it.

According to audience measurement firm Nielsen, it did not break into the top 10 charts for streaming in the weeks after its premiere.
Richardson appeared to react to the news in her Instagram Stories, sharing a picture of doughnuts glazed with the words "ponies", "4ever" and "Twila".

Ponies is created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, and also features Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Vic Michaelis, Nicholas Podany and Petro Ninovskyi, with Harriet Walter, Patrick Fabian and Rob Delaney appearing in recurring and guest roles.
Fangirlish called it a "smart, twisty but more or less steady spy thriller" that "doesn’t completely take you out of your comfort zone, but that isn’t all that hard to predict, either".
"The pleasure of the show is in the deepening friendship between the women," wrote The Guardian. "Maybe it shouldn’t work but it does. It’s a mashup of genres and tropes, but it is its own thing too – and an unexpected treat at that."
"Ponies is nothing like the ordinary spy stories in the best way possible," added ScreenRant. "The premise feels fresh. The scripts are clever. The soundtrack is an absolute banger for people who love 70s music. There are just so many things to love about the Peacock original TV show."
Ponies is streaming on Peacock in the US and NOW in the UK.
