The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox starring Sharon Horgan has landed a new UK streaming home following its premiere last year. The true crime miniseries sees the Bad Sisters star portray the mother of the titular subject, who was wrongfully convicted for the murder of Meredith Kercher in 2009.

The eight-part dramatisation focuses on the highly-publicised trial and Knox's (played by Grace Van Patten) "journey to set herself free".

Originally debuting on Hulu, it has now been confirmed that the series will land on ITV and ITVX in the UK this July, with a specific release date yet to be announced.

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox was largely well-received by critics, sitting at a 71% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 31 reviews.

"In terms of prurient thrills, nothing in The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox can compete with those early portrayals of her as a sex-crazed sadist," The Hollywood Reporter wrote. "But in its heartbreaking, infuriating, unsparing account of the truth, it has a hold all its own."

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review added that it "upends expectations for a true crime miniseries with an embrace of magical realism that’s hinted at in the show’s title".

There was particular praise for Van Patten's performance, the London Evening Standard calling her "fantastic" and The Observer "outstanding".

However, FandomWire said that while the series is "one of the better true crime dramatic retellings out right now", it also "falls a little short in predictable ways".

Horgan previously admitted she was "in bits" while filming the show, especially as she has daughters who are the same age Knox was around the time of the events.

"I definitely wasn't in control," she told Deadline. "I was finding it very hard to not put myself in that position."

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox arrives on ITV and ITVX this July. The series is also available to stream on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
