Last Resort, a brand-new mystery drama set in a quaint seaside village, that sounds like it's packed with twists, has been confirmed to be coming to Channel 5, with an exciting cast of talented actors attached.

Jason Watkins (who has previously starred in the broadcaster's thriller The Catch, as well as 2024's drama Coma, alongside Claire Skinner) is part of the lead ensemble, along with Caroline Quentin (Doc Martin), Niamh Cusack (I, Jack Wright), and Tessa Peake-Jones (Grantchester).

The synopsis has revealed that a group of old friends set off for a fun-filled holiday, only for tragedy to strike. "The police are quick to call it an accident," the description continues, "however, the group are convinced it is murder and set out to prove it..."

From there "the friends dive into their own investigation with the help of Joy's daughter Kate" (played by Ridley's Bronagh Waugh), who soon crosses paths with DI Simon Lund (played by Silent Witness star John Hannah).

"As old crimes surface and dark patterns emerge, the group of friends finds that this seemingly idyllic resort town – with its beach walks, pub lunches, and good-natured bickering – hides something far more sinister," the synopsis reveals. "Together they must piece together one devastating mystery and track down a killer who has been hunting in this close–knit costal community and beyond."

Additional cast has been confirmed to include Cathy Belton (The Hardacres), Ella Dacres (This Is Going to Hurt), Chizzy Akudolu (Little Disasters), Geff Francis (Midsomer Murders), Conor Mullen (Blue Lights), Tadhg Murphy (Brassic), Jonathan Harden (Blue Lights), and Simon Coury (Harry Wild).
