Tom Hardy's reported exit from MobLand is allegedly set to cost the studio "millions" as producers are in a race against time to reshoot elements of the finale for the crime drama's second season.

It was reported last month that Hardy had been fired from the Paramount+ series following a "furious bust-up" (via Daily Mail), which purportedly came about following accusations of tardiness and interference with the script.

The alleged incidents are rumoured to have happened during filming for the second season, with Hardy reportedly being fired ahead of the already-planned third season. It was unknown how the rumoured departure would affect the narrative, with Hardy playing the lead character.

In a new report from The Sun, it has been written that Hardy's exit is proving to be a problem as producers consider how to write out his character, Harry Da Souza. With the second season already filmed, bringing back the cast for reshoots could be costly.

A source for The Sun said that any potential extra scenes could cost "millions", while they also said that it wasn't immediately clear if Hardy would return to filming if reshoots were required.

At the time of Hardy's rumoured exit, which was reported on 22 May, a source from one of the actor's other projects told Digital Spy that Hardy "is awkward for creatives to work with".

It was subsequently reported last week that Hardy was in talks with producers to return to the series, with Variety noting that talks of an exit were premature. A source for the publication added that "things are being worked through creatively".

Whatever has happened behind the scenes, Hardy was supported by co-star Helen Mirren. The actor, who plays Maeve Harrigan in the series, shared a post on Instagram in which she wrote "love you now and always" over a photo of Hardy.

Digital Spy has contacted Paramount and Hardy's representatives for comment.
