Tom Hardy is reportedly in talks for a return to MobLand just a week after it was claimed that he had been fired from the Paramount+ crime drama. Amid the ongoing developments, co-star Helen Mirren shared a message of support for the actor.

It was reported last week that Hardy, who plays Harry Da Souza in the series, had been fired ahead of the third season following allegations of tardiness, with the actor also being said to have clashed with producers after re-writing elements of the script.

In a new report from Variety, it has been reported that Hardy, who also produces the series, was never fired. They write that Paramount is in talks to bring him back for the third season, with a source saying that "things are being worked through creatively".

It seems that, whatever happened behind the scenes, Hardy has the backing of at least one co-star. Helen Mirren, who plays Maeve Harrigan in the series, supported her co-star on Instagram by writing: "Love you now and always. Helen."

It was originally reported that Hardy was fired from the series after clashing with producer David C Glasser and screenwriter Jez Butterworth. In the latest update, Variety said this wasn't the case, though there was on-set tension.

According to a source in Variety, the whole situation could have been amicably resolved sooner, though the reports of Hardy's alleged firing caused the situation to "inflame" and "drag on".

The crime drama, which was created by Ronan Bennett, follows Hardy's Harry, a fixer for the Harrigan crime family in London. As a rival gang threatens the natural order of the criminal underworld, Harry is tasked with preventing all-out war.

The reported on-set conflicts occurred during filming for the upcoming second season, which was greenlit by Paramount last year. It's unknown when the new episodes will premiere, though Hardy has teased that the story will be expanded.
