Both seasons of British mystery thriller The Capture, starring Holliday Grainger and Ron Perlman, is set to depart Netflix in the coming weeks. The show currently has a 'Leaving Soon' badge on the service, with no specific date.

It looks like the show was added to Netflix on 31 January last year (via New on Netflix), so it wouldn't be surprising to see it leave on the same day this year.

What's interesting is that The Capture isn't currently available on BBC iPlayer, despite it premiering on BBC One.

However, a third season is coming to the BBC in the spring, with images recently released of the new and returning cast members.

Could seasons 1 and 2 return to iPlayer to tie in with the new episodes? We're not sure, so if you've got Netflix and want to get up-to-date, you might want to bump this one to top of your watchlist.

What to Read Next

For those unaware, the show deals with the manipulation of digital imagery and video, deep-running government conspiracies, and the fight for the truth in a post-truth world.

Although each season focuses on a different scandal, there is an overarching plot with Grainger's character as the throughline.

On Rotten Tomatoes, season 1 has a very strong 92% positive score while season 2 has a perfect 100% score from critics, making the overall rating 96% positive (at the moment, season 3 could change that for better or worse).

The Telegraph called the show "slick and well-written" and praised Grainger's "pleasingly unlikeable" lead, while The Arts Desk stated it "successfully, and addictively, tapped into a secret dystopia of blanket digital surveillance".

"The Capture was glossy nonsense in a Spooks meets The Undeclared War way," wrote the Herald Scotland, which liked that the show "doesn’t take itself too seriously".

Similarly, The Times wrote that the season 2 finale was "implausible, elaborate, daft and had more twists than a cheap garden hose. It was also fabulously entertaining."

The Capture can be streamed on Netflix for now.
