Netflix has released a brand new trailer and some fresh images from Seven Dials, the upcoming Agatha Christie adaptation written by Broadchurch's Chris Chibnall and starring How to Have Sex's Mia McKenna Bruce, The Crown's Helena Bonham Carter, and the MCU's Martin Freeman. Based on the novel The Seven Dials Mystery, the three episode show will follow a young aristocrat who catches the eye of a handsome man at a party — only to find him dead shortly after.

The authorities warn her not to investigate, but she's far too stubborn to let any potential danger get in her.

The official synopsis gives us a bit more, reading: "England. 1925. At a lavish country house party, a practical joke appears to have gone horribly, murderously wrong.

"It will be up to the unlikeliest of sleuths — the fizzingly inquisitive Lady Eileen 'Bundle' Brent — to unravel a chilling plot that will change her life, cracking wide open the country house mystery.

"A witty, epic and fast-paced drama from the Queen Of Crime, Agatha Christie, is brought to life in a thrilling new version for Netflix."

In the trailer, we also get glimpses of The Inbetweeners' Alex Macqueen, Killing Eve's Edward Bluemel, and Film Club's Nabhaan Rizwan, as well a very brief look at a mysterious hooded figure with a clock mask. Very Traitors!

Tonally, this one looks like it isn't going to take itself all too seriously, so if you like your murder mysteries on the less grim and gritty side, this might be one to look out for when it drops next week.

Freeman recently spoke about how the show and its protagonist set themselves apart from the norm, stating: "I didn't really grow up with Christie, but the character of Bundle surprised me because she's much younger than Marple and Poirot.

"Chris' scripts bring it up to date in a way that feels relatable without trying to be hip and cool. It has a contemporary feel, while not cheating on the period."

Seven Dials will launch on Netflix on Thursday, 15 January.
