With Brassic drawing to a close after seven seasons, Michelle Keegan revealed she's "really sad" to say goodbye.

Speaking with the Daily Star, the actor, who plays Erin Croft, admitted: "It's really sad. I love this show, and for me it's felt like home. Every year, I'd go off and do other projects, and then I'd come back home to Brassic as it was always at the same time every year. It was the nicest job to do because it was like seeing all your mates again."

Noting that it'll be a strange adjustment, Keegan added: "It's going to hit me more this year when it's not coming back."

Brassic, which first aired in 2019, will return with its seventh and final season on 25 September. Ahead of the series premiere, Digital Spy spoke exclusively with stars Ryan Sampson (Tommo) and Tom Hanson (Cardi) about its "harrowing" conclusion.

"It's a lot more like high-stakes, horrific drama going on," Sampson said. "The last episode, spoiler alert, is harrowing. It's harrowing. It's gonna get dark, but it's fun. It's crazy."

Meanwhile, Hanson reflected on working with the close-knit cast. "It's a long period of our lives that we spent together," he mused. "Who knows what will happen in the future? Genuinely, I don't, but hopefully the door will always be open. Be interesting to see what they're like in 20 years."

While Keegan and her castmates are sad to say goodbye, the actor has a busy schedule ahead, after confirming that she's shooting The Blame, a six-part drama for ITV. Cast as DCI Emma Crane, the TV star will appear alongside Douglas Booth.

According to the synopsis: "The series begins when the body of teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen is discovered, sending shockwaves through the town of Wakestead. As DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) dig deeper, what starts as a tragic death spirals into a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise.

"As the clock ticks and trust fractures, Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team."

Season seven of Brassic will premiere on Sky and NOW on 25 September.
