Deep Water, which originally aired on ITV in 2019, has now landed a new UK streaming home at Prime Video, appearing in the streamer's "recently added" TV section.

The mystery drama boasts an impressive cast of TV stars, including Rosalind Eleazar (who most recently starred in Harlan Coben's Missing You), Anna Friel (Marcella) and Sinéad Keenan (Unforgotten).

Deep Water was written by Anna Symon, whose other TV credits include the Ruth Wilson-fronted Mrs Wilson and, more recently, ITV's Joan, starring Sophie Turner. The series follows three busy mums who are desperately trying to juggle it all, while "wrestling with dark secrets", according to the synopsis.

At the time of its release, Deep Water drew comparisons to HBO and Sky's big hit Big Little Lies, though reviews were mixed. The Guardian wrote that, on the surface, the drama is "entertainingly watchable", but pointed to the "feeling that it is all so implausible".

The Scottish Herald wrote: "Deep Water desperately wants to be Big Little Lies with wellies, but after one episode it has a long way to go", while The Standard called it "the perfect end-of-summer filler".

The New Zealand Herald wrote: "Call it Australian noir if you want. Like the Scandinavian variety, only all the action happens on the beach, in blinding sunlight... It's good, once your pupils adjust."

On IMDb, viewers also seemed divided. One reviewer named it a "solid" and "dark" drama that "kept me guessing and interested throughout", while another said that it was "really worth the watch" with "great twists and turns". However others argued it was "unrealistic" and "ridiculously unbelievable..."

Rosalind Eleazar previously said of Deep Water: "It's nice to see three women that are incredibly complex and find themselves in completely different circumstances and situations and it's how they deal with the problems that arise, that makes it really fascinating."

Meanwhile, Anna Friel made it clear that the series is "pro-women" but not "anti-men" in its storytelling.

"Is it empathetic to women's struggles and hardships and juggling career and life? Yes. But can sometimes women make selfish decisions as far as the struggle goes? Yes," she added.

While still on ITVX, now that Deep Water is also available via streaming service on Prime Video, it could reach a whole new audience...
