Channel 4 has just added all four episodes of The Devil's Leap to its streaming service just in time for the weekend.

Described as "fast-moving", the French-language crime thriller follows a climbing guide who takes his teenage daughter on a hike in the remote French Alps.

Things take a dark turn after his daughter witnesses a crime and, as a former member of the special forces, Paul is forced to protect his daughter from the criminals at all costs.

The synopsis reads: "Climbing guide Paul takes his antagonistic teenage daughter Sara on a trek which pits them against killers after she witnesses a murder."

First released in 2021 and directed by Abel Ferry, all four episodes of the French survival thriller are now available to stream free with ads via Channel 4's streaming service.

Philippe Bas stars as Paul, while his daughter Sara is played by Maïra Schmitt. Joining them on the cast are Armelle Deutsch, Laurent Maurel, Yann Pradal, and Olivier Sa.

The series currently has a 5.3 out of 10 user rating on IMDb. Viewer reviews are mixed, with some praising Bas's performance, while others described The Devil's Leap as "predictable".

"I thought he played his role as a climber authentically," one viewer said of Bas, adding: "So I really bought into him that he can climb. He carried out the dialogues with his daughter relatively well. Solid performance."

They added: "Towards the end the film becomes a bit more exciting, but unfortunately that's over after just 15 minutes. However, the film impresses with its short but beautiful landscape shots."

Another viewer said "this is quite predictable", adding: "Since Vertical Limit in the 90s I am waiting for another movie to be on the same level of insanity of sorts. This is not it - but for a movie made for TV it is quite decent."
