Stephen Mulhern was left stunned as he made a big mistake for the first time ever in his more than 10 years hosting ITV's Catchphrase.

A recent Celebrity edition of the show featured Jeremy Vine, Charlie Hedges and Luke Kempner battling it out to win money for their chosen charities — although one round was noticeably easier than the others.

In one game, Mulhern introduced a clip of show mascot Mr Chips walking into a bakery as the prices of the food started going up and up, until the roof exploded.

"Take your time with this one, wait for the clue," Mulhern instructed, before completely ignoring his own advice and giving them the answer.

"Literally, the prices have gone through the roof!" he said.

The host's reaction to what he said gave away what we had done, with Vine being the first to realise, as the studio audience burst out into laughter and applause.

"I have never in my life done that, in 10 years," he admitted.

"Have you honestly never done that?" Hedges asked, to which Mulhern confirmed it was "the first time in 10 years" he'd given the answer away.

Vine pointed out he'd made "Catchphrase history", while the four all joked that previous host Roy Walker had never given away an answer.

Kempner joked it would have been a very tricky one to get before pretending to host himself. "Stephen Mulhern is on £200 now!" he joked.

Impressionist and Big Brother's Bit on the Side regular Kempner won the episode for the charity Little Lives UK and doubling the prize money for his fellow contestants, too.

Catchphrase airs new episodes on Sundays on ITV1 and streams on ITVX. Meanwhile, ITV has just launched new channel ITV Quiz.
