Jason Watkins and Robson Green’s new "high-stakes" British crime thriller The Game has confirmed a May release date.

Set to debut on 5, the psychological drama will air its first episode on Monday 12 May at 9pm, with the remaining episodes set to follow that same week (via Radio Times).

The four-part series will air at the same time each evening that week until it comes to a dramatic conclusion on Thursday 15 May.

Previously titled Catch You Later, The Game follows a retired detective named Huw Miller (Watkins) who is haunted by a case he couldn't solve involving a serial killer who toyed with his victims before murdering them.

Starring alongside Green and Watkins in the series, which is described as a "cat-and-mouse thriller", is Casualty star Sunetra Sarker.

The synopsis reads: "As Huw attempts to settle into retirement, the case is never far from his mind – and when new neighbour Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in and utters the chilling phrase 'catch you later' – the sign-off the stalker used to taunt Huw during the investigation – Huw is determined he’s finally got his man.

"What follows is a high stakes game of psychological chess between the two neighbours as Huw’s world begins to crumble around him.

"Unable to bear the guilt of the stalker taking another victim under his nose, Huw risks everything to unearth the truth. But has he set his sights on the right man, or is his obsession pushing him ever closer to the brink?"

Previously speaking about the series, Watkins said: "Really excited to do another Channel 5 thriller, after the success of Coma. This is a different prospect but has all the ingredients for another thrilling ride.

"So excited to work with Robson – and Sunetra. Another complex and fascinating script: so looking forward to beginning filming."

The Game will premiere on 5 on 12 May.
