The Feud, the 5 series starring Jill Halfpenny and Larry Lamb, has released a mysterious new teaser ahead of its premiere.

The six-part thriller focuses on the residents of an idyllic suburban street, with built-up tensions surfacing after one family outlines their plans to build an extension to their property. After the neighbours strongly voice their discontent, suspicion abounds…

Ahead of the series’ launch on Monday (April 14), Radio Times has released a teaser for the show, depicting the initial conversation between Emma (Halfpenny) and Barbara (Tessa Peake-Jones) where the plans are raised.

Despite assuring Barbara that the extension work will not be intrusive to the property, Emma and friend Sonia (Amy Nutall) are struck by Barbara’s actions after an innocent remark to a mystery character called Marcus.

Emma and Sonia then discuss the fate of Marcus, with the latter remarking: “Come on, people don't just disappear. I mean, you said so yourself, you could hear the fights through the wall” – who exactly is this character?

“One decision sets in motion events that have unforeseeable consequences for both her and the people living on her street,” continues the synopsis for the series, which has been written and created by Aschlin Ditta.

In addition to the tense teaser, 5 has also released a trailer for the series, showcasing Emma’s initial suspicions and subsequent sparring with her neighbours as emotions reach boiling point. Hinting that nobody can be trusted, the playful tagline reads: “Loathe thy neighbour”.

The Feud premieres on 5 on Monday at 9pm.
