BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood has cleared the air, squashing rumours suggesting she is exiting the show.
The weather presenter appeared to fall victim to an April Fool's Day prank today, as a fake Carol Kirkwood Instagram account stated it was "very sadly" her "last day on the Beeb".
However, Carol was quick to shut down the claims, with the star sharing a screenshot of the post to her official X account and captioning it: "A friend just sent me this from Insta! This account has nothing to do with me… and it is not my last day at the BBC."
Worried fans shared their relief in the comments, with one writing: "Thank goodness! My husband would never recover if we didn't see your lovely face at breakfast every day!"
"My little heart skipped a beat when I saw this. So glad it’s not true!" wrote another, with a third adding: "Thank goodness it's not true!!!"

Meanwhile, Carol's BBC Breakfast co-star Matt Taylor joked: "Good… as it’s my day off tomorrow and I was hoping for a lie in."
Carol joined the BBC Breakfast team back in 1997, making her the longest-serving remaining presenter on the show.
Last year, the star defended her 14-year age gap with new husband Steve Randall, sharing that she believes negative comments wouldn't be as prevalent if her husband was older than her.

"If our ages were the other way around, nobody would ever mention it. I've had a few comments, but I don't care," she told the Express.
"We've moved on from the days when he might have been described as my toy-boy or people might call me a cougar. We're happy together, and that's all that matters."
