BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood has shared a health update after appearing to struggle with a hoarse voice on the show.

During today's (August 13) episode, the star was presenting the weather when her voice sounded cracked.

As she handed off back to presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay, Sally told Carol: "Your voice nearly lasted to the very end there, Carol, well done!"

The weather presenter then clarified: "I know. It's this pesky 100-day cough. It just keeps giving. It won't go."

"Well get better soon," Sally said, before Jon added: "We'll give you another chance in half an hour and see you then!"

The weather presenter recently took a break from BBC Breakfast, with fellow star Matt Taylor recently explaining her absence from the show.

"Good morning. We've sent @carolkirkwood off to see if she can persuade summer to pay us a longer visit," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "In the meantime, I'm looking after the @BBCBreakfast forecast this week and …oh look …more rain."

Meanwhile, in July, Carol defended her 14-year age gap with husband Steve Randall, sharing that she believes negative comments wouldn't be as prevalent if her husband was older than her.

"If our ages were the other way around, nobody would ever mention it. I've had a few comments but I don't care," she told the Express.

"We've moved on from the days when he might have been described as my toy-boy or people might call me a cougar. We're happy together and that's all that matters."
