“I am very proud to say that yet again Sainte-Victoire has attracted a plethora of brilliant guest stars,” said Lindsay in a statement. “We have been blown away with how their talent has lifted our scripts off the page.

“We also welcome back some of our beloved semi-regulars to have fun in the sunshine with all the regular gang. We can't wait for you to meet our brand-new characters [and] catch up with what our permanent residents are up to, as well as working out six brand new mysteries with Jean.”

Lindsay, who created the show alongside Vincent, recently spoke about the prospect of reprising her role as Shelley Unwin - which she played for five years before departing in 2006 - on Coronation Street, sharing that it was “not for [her]”.

“It has been many years now and I've got my own show and I produce as well, so it's probably not for me,” said the actor. “But I absolutely think it's the best thing ever for people to go back, because it's like another world. It's a great job.”

The Madame Blanc Mysteries airs on Channel 5.
