Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-paced episodes that UK viewers might wish to avoid.

Home and Away has released a heartbreaking new promo, as Irene Roberts' exit looms.

Actor Lynne McGranger is leaving Summer Bay after 33 years, and the Australian soap is about to kick off her final storyline, following some foreshadowing.

The Alzheimer's storyline, which McGranger herself pitched to the show's bosses, is promising to be "emotional and unmissable", and this promo commits to pulling at the heartstrings.

Backed by ballad 'While I Got Time' by Jessica Mauboy, the video begins with Irene admitting that she's labelling all her photos as she wants to hang on to her memories for as long as possible.

We then see flashbacks from across the years, with a load of old faces, while the current residents of the Bay pledge their support to Irene during this awful time.

The promo ends with the words 'Goodbye Irene', hammering home that, yes, this really is the end for the Home and Away legend.

Earlier this year, McGranger said: "[The story] is very pertinent, and very important, and I am really very proud of it. From what I have read, and from what we have filmed so far, it is so well written – I just hope I can do it justice. But I know my fellow actors will support me, and I'm happy with the way it is all unfolding."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5, with repeat screenings at 6pm on 5STAR and first-look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7Plus.
