Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Monday's episode (6 July), which is available to watch on streaming service Channel 4 but hasn't yet aired on TV.

Hollyoaks' Jonah Keane seemingly puts an end to his wife Beth's woes tonight, as the threats against his family continue to escalate. With Beth ready to flee the village, he assures her their blackmailer has been paid off. But a final twist reveals a different story...

In the episode, the newcomers panic after realising their mystery foe is hot on their heels. Jonah pleads for time to sort the problem, but Beth is determined to escape with Maddox - hoping to hide the fact that she isn't his biological mum.

As Maddox declares he isn't going without proper answers, Jonah receives another threatening text. He replies, asking how much it will cost to get them off his and Beth's back for good.

At Price Slice, Maddox tells his brother Caleb about Beth's shifty behaviour and weak excuses for leaving, before the latter arrives and orders him to go pack up his things. Noticing Beth's panic, Frankie Osborne offers to help but is immediately shut down.

Elsewhere, Jonah visits his father-in-law Jack Osborne and asks to borrow £5,000, telling him Beth needs his help. Desperate to make up with his estranged daughter, Jack transfers the money.

With their bags packed, Beth ushers Maddox into the back of Rex Gallagher's car, and orders him to drive them "anywhere". But the tearful teen pleads with his mum to stay.

"I have a grandad, an uncle, cousins. I have friends I like, a life I like! Now you're just gonna take me away without even telling me why," he says, demanding a reason for the upheaval.

However, before they can leave, Jonah rushes over and tells his wife it's been "sorted" as he's "paid 'her' off". Relief washes over Beth's face, and she accepts a sweet pep talk from her dad and brother Darren.

"It's been a hard life, and when you spend most of it feeling like you're borrowed, you hold on tight to what's yours," she explains. "But don't worry. I'm staying put."

Believing the blackmailer is in their past, Jonah disposes of the phone in a nearby bin. But in a huge twist, he doesn't see a new text telling him the money simply cleared their debt, and the mystery woman is still "coming for [her] son".

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
