Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (2 September), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has confirmed an intriguing link between Donny Clark and Froggy Black, as their past connection is revealed.
With Froggy having just been released from prison after decades behind bars, he discovered in today’s episode that the village was in chaos looking for missing Morgan.
He flagged down Diane who filled him in on the scary situation. When she introduced herself, Froggy told her that he shared a prison wing with her ex-husband Tony and remarked that he was struggling.
Froggy offered to join the search for Morgan – but when Diane told Donny that he had a new volunteer, it quickly became clear that he and Froggy recognised one another.

"Donny!" Froggy remarked, rather pointedly. "I’ve had a few surprises since I came out, but seeing you looking so well, after all these years… it’s to die for."
Whatever the link is, Donny was clearly spooked by this unexpected reunion. He escaped to behind a wall, where he panicked and struggled to breathe.
How do Froggy and Donny know each other, and why is Donny so worried about Froggy’s return to the village?

Last month, actor Louis Emerick, who plays Donny, teased that Froggy could play a key role in Hollyoaks’ upcoming crossover with Brookside.
"Keep your eyes on #Froggy, superbly played by @john_Middleton_," he wrote in one post online. "Froggy is the key to who, what +where, in the whole #OaksBrookyMashup."
We also recently spoke to Louis at a photoshoot for this year’s Inside Soap Awards, where he teased that the detective could soon be dealing with a new villain.

"There is maybe somebody from his past…" he told us. "Maybe things might be getting resurrected there and we'll see what happens there."
There could be trouble ahead for Donny’s love life too, as Harvey Virdi, who plays his fiancée Misbah, told us that her character will be rocked by some big discoveries.
She said: "They’re going to have a few little ups and downs that are coming up, that they’ve got to work their way through... We are going to see if their love can carry them through."
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
