Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Friday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Monday.

Hollyoaks has added another layer to Abe Fielding's murky background, as his connection to the real Kitty Draper is revealed.

Kitty's identity theft was almost discovered this week when Zoe suspected she wasn't who she claimed to be. Pushing to exhume Hunter's grave, Zoe believed the real Kitty was buried there, before Beau confessed to killing Declan.

In a twist of events, Kitty found out that Abe was the one who filed the missing persons report when the real Kitty disappeared.

In tonight's (August 2) episode, Kitty saw unanswered messages from Abe on the real Kitty's phone. "I'm fine - I'm happy. Leave me alone!" she replied to his text.

Later, in a conversation with Cleo, Abe heard Kitty's last name is Draper and became suspicious. "I know this isn't Kitty!" he texted the real Kitty's phone.

"Turn around!" read the second text, before Kitty saw Abe standing behind her. "So, where's the real Kitty Draper?" he demanded.

After Abe threatened to tell the police, Kitty explained that she had met the real Kitty at a women's refuge. When they tried to get away for a fresh start, the real Kitty died in a car accident.

"She was the first person that I've ever loved," he said. As Kitty started to put the pieces together, she realised Abe was who the real Kitty was running from.

Horrified by her realisation, Kitty rushed to warn Cleo about Abe. "I can't let what happened to her happen to you," she began. "You need to leave Abe. You're in danger. He's not what he seems."

Kitty continued, not noticing Abe walking into the room: "I used to know this girl. She told me all about this abusive ex that she was running away from. I didn't know his name at the time but, Cleo, the guy she was running away from, it's Abe."

Abe interrupted Kitty, ordering her to get out before he told everyone the truth about her identity. He told Cleo that Kitty was lying, but will Cleo finally see through Abe's abuse?
