Cleo McQueen will make a shock discovery about boyfriend Abe in Hollyoaks next week.

Suspecting Abe of cheating on her after seeing a suspicious message, Cleo decides to follow her boyfriend. However, she is stopped in her tracks by Abe's mum Marie who persuades Cleo to accompany her to Manchester, where there has been a sighting of her missing younger son, Arlo.

While the pair wait for a taxi, Marie opens up about Arlo and tells Cleo all about his favourite teddy, which he keeps in his bag.

Later, Marie returns home upset after discovering the sighting wasn't Arlo, while Cleo goes to confront Abe. He insists the message she saw was from a client, but she's left with even more questions about her boyfriend when she discovers Arlo's teddy among his belongings.

Cleo then follows Abe to the Youth Centre, where she hears banging and shouting. She also overhears Abe offering Chris money to go away. When she tries to call the police, she is intercepted by Abe.

Cleo later sees Joel with a drunk Marie – who is struggling over Arlo's disappearance. However, viewers know that Arlo isn't really 'missing' after it was revealed that the situation is being orchestrated by Abe.

Arlo is actually living with his stepmum, and in a recent episode, Abe was seen on a video call with the pair of them, telling Arlo that Marie was "still refusing" to see him.

Abe also continues in his attempt to control Cleo next week when he breaks up with her and tells her it's because she pushes people away due to her traumatic past.

Nadine Mulkerrin, who plays Cleo, recently spoke to Digital Spy about the storyline with Abe. She said: "There's lots more sort of stuff with Abe. I don’t want to say too much, but he can’t really keep a lid on his anger coming down the line and we sort of see his mask slip slightly, and the audience should be left screaming ‘Cleo just see him for what he is and get out of there’.

"I think that’s the story we’re telling, though – how sometimes something can be right in front of your eyes but you can’t see it, and you’re asking yourself, 'Am I going crazy?'.

"He’s so good at gaslighting her and love-bombing her and manipulating her, so he is a very dangerous individual."

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
