Hollyoaks hints that Rayne Royce's real killer is still at large later this month.

The whodunit mystery was seemingly resolved last month when Prince McQueen confessed to his twin brother Hunter about how he believed himself to be responsible for Rayne's death.

Friday's episode on Channel 4 streaming (December 1) saw Prince get arrested for the murder, but the story is far from over.

As the saga continues later this month, a suspicious note with a message for Prince sheds new light on the mystery.

The letter, from an unknown sender, suggests that someone out there knows much more about the night of Rayne's murder than they're letting on.

The next day, Hunter confesses to Prince that he stole Rayne's phone on the night of the murder.

Hunter then shows the mysterious note to Romeo Nightingale, pointing out that it encouraged Prince to change his plea from guilty to not guilty.

Later, local police detective Zoe Anderson tells Hunter that she wants to regain his trust after recent tensions between them.

Hunter accepts the olive branch and comes clean to Zoe about the phone. This once again leaves Zoe torn between her job and her loyalty to those close to her.

Zoe wants to show the phone to her police colleagues, but Hunter urges her to leave it alone.

Peri Lomax realises what Hunter may be hiding when she recognises the familiar text tone from Rayne's phone.

One of Zoe's friends, who works on tech support, agrees to help her gain access to the phone to look for clues.

Sadly, Hunter discovers that it has been stolen from his pocket. Is the real killer trying to cover their tracks?

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
