Charlie Dean attacked Mason Chen-Williams in the latest episode of Hollyoaks, following his disturbing discovery of the latter’s post about Leah Barnes.

In recent months, Mason has been indoctrinated by the Men’s First Forum in his radical misogyny storyline, and posted images of a drunk Leah whilst bragging that he had slept with her.

Following on from Charlie and Mason's fight last week, the drama continued in tonight’s first look episode (January 9), with Mason frantically attempting to contact Leah in a bid to gain some forgiveness.

While Ste was consoling Leah at home, Charlie arrived and was left feeling angry with Ste's diplomatic approach and at the thought of Mason "getting away with it".

As Mason was panicking about worrying messages he'd seen on the forum from Eric regarding his potential plans, Charlie assaulted him in the park, with his rage even overcoming Ste, who attempted to halt the attack. Ste subsequently accompanied Mason to hospital, but claimed he hadn't seen who had beaten Mason.

Mason then tried to warn people of Eric's plan, but was unable to get the words out.

Elsewhere, Eric continued to torment Maxine following the abduction, driving her to an unknown location as he continued to fine-tune his schemes.

Maxine attempted to talk some sense into him by bringing up memories of his late sister, Verity, and mother, who had died in a plane crash.

It was all to no avail though, with Eric revealing that he would wield a crossbow at Verity's funeral, with the whole village at his mercy. Can Maxine dissuade him, or will Mason be able to tell someone in time and thwart his plan?
