Ex-Hollyoaks actor Joe Tracini has shared a candid post on social media as he celebrates four years of sobriety.

Joe played Dennis Savage on the soap from 2011 until 2014 before making a brief return to the Hollyoaks fold last year, but he's always been a vocal supporter of mental health in his spare time.

His latest Twitter activity now hopes to give strength to fellow addicts and sufferers.

Sharing three pages of screenshot notes, Joe wrote to his followers: "Hello you. I'm 4 years sober today. I've not spoken about my addictions much cos, ya know, shame and stuff.

"But if you or someone you know has a problem & you feel like you'll never be able to stop, you can. Here's what happened to me."

In the upload, he chronicles the time he switched from a drug addict to an alcoholic "overnight", losing two years of his life to the bottle in the process.

Further along, Joe shares a particularly graphic story about a trip to Waitrose he had in the grip of addiction.

The 30-year-old also weighs in on how a chance meeting with a "22 years sober magical man" changed everything for him, who allowed him to believe that the dark days wouldn't last forever.

He signed off the note by writing: "If you feel like you can't change and life will never get any better, you can and it will."
