Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale is set to have a major new arrival in the village soon, as a Marvel star has joined the cast. Nicole Evans, who appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger as well as Netflix's The Sandman, will be joining the soap for a short stint.

While little is known about Evans's character, a TV insider did tell The Sun: "This is really exciting for Nicole. She's playing a really intriguing character with a huge secret that will ruffle feathers in the village."

It's currently unclear when Evans will make her debut in the Dales, nor do we know which figures she will be involved with in terms of the storyline. Given that it's soapland, we can be sure it'll be dramatic even if it's a brief stint.

In addition to Captain America: The First Avenger and The Sandman, Evans appeared in Blackbird, which was led by Michael Flatley. She also starred in The Bay, ITV's popular crime drama, back in 2022.

The news come hot on the heels of another casting on the ITV soap, with former Waterloo Road star Jason Done joining the cast. The actor, who played Tom Clarkson on the BBC school drama, will have a villainous part in the Dales.

A spokesperson for ITV confirmed to Digital Spy that Done will be playing Steve, who will have a surprising connection to the village. While his stint will only be brief, he could have a major impact further down the line.

Emmerdale recently welcomed another new arrival to the village in the shape of Casey Al-Shaqsy's Serena Sugden, with the enigmatic figure eventually being revealed as Robert's distant cousin.

Serena has kept her cards close to her chest regarding her reasons for being in the village, but next week she will find herself under suspicion from Aaron after Robert is knocked unconscious by a runaway farm vehicle.

"Robert's injuries pour more suspicion on Serena," says our Emmerdale mole. "The last long-lost Sugden who turned up had a habit of leaving people for dead then saving their life. Aaron's terrified of history repeating itself, especially as Serena's so obsessed with John."

But later, when Serena's secret is revealed, there are big repercussions for the Sugdens, with our source teasing: "Serena's secret changes the whole dynamic at Emmerdale Farm. We can't reveal what she's hiding, but what happens next could tear the family apart."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
