Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale's Kev Townsend plans a huge surprise next week to prove he's serious about getting to know his son, Lewis Barton. After his recent theft resulted in Lewis's kidnapping, the ex-con has been trying to make amends.
But will his grand gesture be well received? Or is it too late for the pair to build a relationship? Luckily, we have a teaser clip to give you a taste of what's to come on the ITV soap.

Kev returned to the village this summer, and has seemingly tried to turn his life around with his cake van 'A Slice of Kev-en'. However, it wasn't long before his criminal past resurfaced as it was revealed that he had stolen a diamond.
Though Lewis's life was on the line, Kev was reluctant to return the gem to his ex Kylie, but Ross Barton knocked him out and managed to free his half-brother. Later, Kev told Lewis that he was his biological dad, but the latter wasn't interested in a family reunion.

Despite this, Kev has refused to give up on his son, and upcoming scenes will see him making a big change to earn Lewis's approval. However, his reformed behaviour only extends so far as he continues his efforts to tick off Nicola King.
In a newly released spoiler clip from Wednesday's (8 July) episode, which can be viewed below, Nicola fumes when she sees Kev opening up his van right outside her café. Her musings about setting the van on fire are interrupted by Lewis, who returns from visiting his parents.
Meanwhile, Lewis's reunion with Nicola and boyfriend Vinny Dingle are also interrupted by Kev, who calls him over to the van. Jumping out from behind the counter, Kev proudly unveils a new sign on the van, reading: "Barton's Cake Tin".

"What do you think?" he asks a confused Lewis, who immediately tells him to "change it back" as that isn't his name. "It is now. Officially Kevin Barton," Kev replies, confirming that he's changed his surname by deed poll.
Lewis reiterates that he simply asked Kev to leave him alone, and storms off in frustration. However, later in the week, the pair share a heartfelt chat about what the name change really means, and Lewis invites Kev out for a drink.
Could this be the start of a sweet new relationship between the father and son? Or will the upcoming café robbery add another roadblock for Kev in his bid to be a good father?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
