In the trailer, Mack is seen frantically running through the woods, after John confronts him about his discovery. "I'm guessing you've joined up the dots," John says menacingly.

The clip, which was first teased in the soap's New Years Eve episode, promises danger for Mack as he trips over while being chased and lays helplessly on the ground.

The farmhand is at the mercy of John, who towers over him with a huge rock. Despite Mack's pleas, it seems like John has claimed his next victim as he appears to slam the rock towards Mack's head.

"Guess I really am the bad guy," John concludes as the trailer ends.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
