Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb has addressed his character Mackenzie Boyd's unresolved flashforward scene.

As viewers will know, various flashforward scenes were shown in the ITV soap's New Year's Eve episode, including one of Mackenzie frantically running through the woods. However, this scene has yet to be explained or tied into current storylines.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Robb revealed that the storyline hasn't been filmed yet, though he knows "it’s intrinsically linked to a big story coming up about Mackenzie and Aaron".

"But that’s all I know at the minute," he added.

What to Read Next

Mackenzie is currently clashing with Aaron's fiancé John Sugden, and the soap has already teased the possibility of Mack being John's next victim after Mack exposed his past engagement to Aidan Moore.

"The thing is with John, he obviously killed Nate but he didn’t do it intentionally. Could he go all the way with Mackenzie?" said Robb.

"I absolutely do think so. If John were to fall into that kind of spiral of being a serial killer, Mackenzie would be right at the top of that list. So on that basis, Mackenzie’s life is in jeopardy."

In scenes set to air next week, Mack is left seething when John issues him with a chilling warning as they gear up for a paintballing session for John and Aaron's joint stag do.

Mack takes the paintballing session as an opportunity to mess with John, and sets off into the woods with a plan.

However, John is quick to suss out that Mack is up to no good and follows him. Will the game of cat and mouse lead to an epic showdown?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
