Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale aired the aftermath of John Sugden's sneaky cover-up, having framed another for the murder of the late Nate Robinson.

John accidentally killed Nate late last year and has been covering his tracks ever since, especially recently following the recovery of Nate's body from the lake.

Arriving for a welfare check at Owen Michaels' house last week, John found him overdosed and losing consciousness, but instead of calling for help, he saw the opportunity to frame the addict for Nate's death, leaving him for someone else to find along with a forged suicide note.

Tonight's episode began with Liam Cavanagh preparing to pay Owen a visit after John claimed he was unable to locate him during his welfare check.

Liam hoped that John's alleged unsuccessful check-in was a "false alarm", but we later saw a body bag being wheeled out of the property, with Liam shocked to find Owen dead.

In a chat with the detective, Liam learned about the fake suicide note framing Owen for Nate's murder.

Shortly after, the detective was seen breaking the news to a devastated Cain Dingle and Tracy Robinson, who struggled to hear that Nate's death was seemingly a "chance encounter".

Back at the surgery, Liam informed John of Owen's death and the note taking responsibility for Nate's death.

John told Robert about Owen's death and him admitting to killing Nate. Robert was stunned, having been a recent victim of Owen, who spiked him during a date together.

John told Robert that he'd had "a lucky escape", but is Robert convinced by John's lies?
