Emmerdale's Lisa Riley shares cryptic message over storyline deaths: 'There might be more'

Emmerdale actor Lisa Riley has teased that the limousine crash storyline could result in multiple character deaths.

The fate of 17 characters across two separate limos are hanging in the balance following separate road incidents, with Noah also seemingly been spiked. One limo is stranded on an icy lake, where one character has stopped breathing.

Appearing on today's Good Morning Britain from Mandy's salon set, Riley – noting that her being on set doesn't necessarily mean her character survives – ominously responded to Richard Madeley and Laura Tobin, who said one character might meet their fate.

"You said one person. There might be more," she said.

Although she didn't reveal anything specific, she explained why soaps often have these big death storylines, saying that it drives public interest and a lot of discussion.

"It is an ongoing story, it never ever ends. It's not like you read it and you close it," she said.

"Emmerdale, it's every week and because of the current climate, you've got to keep up with the brilliant stories. That's why you have something so impactful like the limousines. All weekend, everyone's talking about it on social media. That's what the bosses want, they want that."

She said that she also loves how people have been asking to look at her hands over the weekend, to see if they can identify her as the hand seen beneath the ice.

Riley followed on a recent point she made about soap actors never feeling too secure in their jobs, detailing that being written out at any point is just part and parcel of the career.

"You're in the hands of the writers and the producers," she said. "When we get those scripts sent every fortnight as we do, and we've got a new director, you're in the hands of whoever the new exec producer is.

"It just takes one exec producer to go, 'Oh no, I want to take the story this way', and then you are part of that game."
