Emmerdale's Brenda Walker and Eric Pollard called time on their relationship in heartbreaking scenes.
The couple have been through a lot recently, with Eric coming clean about falling for a cryptocurrency scam and losing Brenda's life savings. On top of that, he admitted that his spontaneous proposal could have been the result of side effects from his Parkinson's medication.
In tonight's (December 5) episode, Eric tried to win over Brenda by buying her flowers and making her laugh, but his attempts fell flat.

As the soap is gearing up to air Brenda's exit, it seems that things are over for good for her and Pollard.

Eric had a surprise in store for Brenda, shutting the shop for the night and preparing a display with her favourite food. When she said she wasn't hungry, he moved onto the second part of his plan, and proposed to her.
The pair were interrupted by Liam Cavanagh who stopped by the shop to get some milk. When he left, Brenda told Eric there was no need for him to repeat the question as her answer was no.

Brenda reminded Eric that he'd very recently told her he couldn't imagine getting married again. She suggested that he only proposed to make things right between them but that too much had happened to continue their relationship.
After Brenda announced she'd move out to the B&B, she and Eric teared up in an emotional goodbye. Is this truly the end for the couple?
