Chas and Paddy Dingle have reached a compromise over Eve's future in Emmerdale.

Paddy announced earlier this week that Eve wanted to move in with him and Mandy full time after walking in on Chas and new romantic interest 'Simon' (who is actually local gangster Harry).

Chas was outraged by the idea of Eve moving, leading her to make an insensitive remark about Mandy's parenting. She soon regretted the comment when Paddy explained that Mandy is infertile due to a miscarriage.

The former couple agreed that Eve could stay with Paddy and Mandy for the time being, but Chas was clearly distraught as she secretly phoned 'Simon' to ask to see him again.

In Wednesday's (October 4) episode, Chas apologised for her cruel comment and Mandy assured her it was already forgiven and forgotten.

Mandy lifted Chas's spirits by telling her Eve had been asking for her and was "all over the place" without her mum the previous night.

"I think she's struggling with this a lot more than we all realise," Mandy pointed out.

Mandy encouraged Chas to sit down with Paddy and hash things out so that Eve could see that they were "united" as parents.

"Paddy just needs reassuring that you're both on the same page about everything that's best for Eve," Mandy told her.

Mandy agreed to set up a meeting between the two, and eventually Chas and Paddy did sit down to work out Eve's future.

Chas confided in him: "I'm on my own, Paddy. I hate to admit it but I'm jealous of the life you and Mandy already have set up together."

Mandy and Paddy told Chas they thought it was best for Eve to move back in with her at the Woolpack. Mandy assured Chas she's not trying to be Eve's mum — she just enjoys spending time with the little one.

Chas and Paddy agreed they'd both pick up Eve for nursery and then take her out for tea to explain her living situation.
