Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Rosie Bentham has discussed the possibility of Jamie Tate returning to the show one day.

Jamie hasn't appeared on the ITV1 soap since November 2021, when it was revealed that he'd faked his own death to escape from the influence of his mum Kim.

Since then, Jamie has been mentioned on screen several times – most notably in September 2022, when Kim discovered his deception and that he'd attacked his mother-in-law Hazel.

Rosie's character Gabby Thomas still has a link to Jamie, as she's raising their 1-year-old son Thomas at Home Farm.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media about how a comeback for Jamie would go, Rosie predicted: "I think Jamie returning would be chaos. There are a lot of things unsolved from when he was here.

"A lot of hurt would come back up for Gabby, because he left. She thought they were getting married, but he was playing her.

"I think it would cause a lot of chaos and with Kim as well. It would certainly rock the boat at Home Farm – and whose hands Home Farm would be left in after that, I don't know. Gabby is hoping that Home Farm is hers, so we'll see what happens."

Gabby's current storyline is seeing her grow closer to Home Farm's new nanny Nicky.

Discussing the romantic plot, Rosie continued: "Gabby has become used to rejection. Her experience with Jamie was a whole whirlwind of emotions, but I think that book is closed for her now.

"She's trying to move on. She's not out there looking for guys, but one has come along, who she really gets along with."

Asked whether she thinks Gabby is a good mum to Thomas, Rosie replied: "Gabby is not great at giving Thomas all the attention he needs. She wants success. She also wants to live a life of a 21-year-old.

"She's going through a lot – her best mate has died, she didn't plan on having this kid and the last thing she's thinking of is prioritising the child.

"That's why Nicky has come in, because it's easy for her to hand Thomas over, which is what Dawn doesn't want to do with Lucas and Clemmie. So I don't think she's dealing with it that well."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
