Emmerdale's Jacob left in critical condition in stabbing aftermath

Jacob Gallagher has been left in a critical condition after his stabbing in Emmerdale.

The teen was left for dead earlier this week when he confronted his mum Leyla's drug dealer Callum after her relapse, only to be stabbed with the same weapon he brought to the confrontation.

Thursday's (January 5) double bill opened with David desperate to find his son. David discovered Leyla had been locked in her bedroom (though she stopped short of explaining Jacob had been the one to lock her in).

"Something just doesn't feel right. This isn't like him," David said about Jacob not having been home all night.

Leyla soon realised just how dangerous the situation was when she checked her phone to find the messages from Jacob arranging a meet-up with Callum.

"We've got to find him," Leyla insisted.

The pair trekked into the woods, where they were first alarmed to find the knife and a blood trail leading under a bridge. Ringing Jacob's phone finally led his parents to him, yet he was unconscious from blood loss.

Leyla insisted on taking Jacob to the hospital rather than waiting for an ambulance. She also slipped the blood-soaked knife into her pocket.

Liam met them at the hospital to assure David that Jacob was getting the best care. David then warned Leyla that if anything happened to Jacob, it would be her fault.

David and Pollard eventually had to speak to police, where they covered for Leyla about the knife. David later told Leyla that he was disgusted by her lies.
