One year ago, Powles opened up about her move to London after her role in Emmerdale ended, and said actors shouldn't be made to feel ashamed over working 'normal' jobs.

"The acting industry is so hit and miss," she explained. "One minute you could be having the best job, and then it finishes and there is no guarantee when your next job is going to be.

"And you just have to accept that and be willing to get your hands dirty and get to work."

The star added that in addition to working at a health food cafe, she's taught yoga, done volunteering, and had a stint as a lifeguard.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
