Emmerdale's Paddy Kirk proved he'd stop at nothing to spice up his relationship with
Chas Dingle in tonight's episode – but will it prove enough to bring the distant couple closer?
On Monday (June 22), the ITV soap saw Paddy (Dominic Brunt) take lockdown in his stride, seeing it as an opportunity to reconnect with partner Chas. Unfortunately, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) – who's struggling to cope with the closure of The Woolpack – wasn't quite so optimistic.
After bickering over whether to spend their newfound free time decorating or drinking all the booze in the pub cellar (as well as arguing over whose turn it was to go to the supermarket), Paddy quizzed Chas on why she's still bothering to dress up and put makeup on.

Irritated by his assumption that it's to impress him, Chas explained that she doesn't want to "end up like a dowdy woman who's only here to cook, clean and change nappies".

"I suppose it just gets a little bit harder each day to remember who I really am, and I know it's vain, and I know it's stupid and no offence, Paddy, but I just wanna still feel like that sexy, confident woman who makes all the fellas gawp," she said.
Determined to make his partner feel better, Paddy offered to pop to the shops and buy Chas a new mascara – as she'd run out – and told her to be "dressed to the nines" by the time he got back.
Later, Paddy surprised Chas in the Woolpack with a candlelit dinner, complete with chilli, ice cream and all the cocktails a woman could ever want.
The following day, however, the pair got into another spat as Paddy had passed out on the sofa in the night and Chas had been up half the night nursing the baby.
"Why are hangovers ten times worse at our age?" Paddy said.

"Our age? Wow. So now you're calling me old?" Chas snapped back. "Save it Paddy, I'm going upstairs to get our daughter dressed."
In his attempt to make amends, Paddy re-arranged the living room and kitchen to make the couple feel like they were on a second honeymoon and admitted to Chas that he doesn't really want the lockdown restrictions to be eased because he's enjoyed spending time with just her.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know we'd drifted," he said. "We need to hold on to the good things that have come out of all this. The fact that we love each other... We always will."
"Yes, we do," Chas replied, but her face told another story. Will the couple ever get back on track, for real?
Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm on ITV as part of a new strategy to keep the soap on air throughout the pandemic.
