Wednesday's (June 17) special lockdown episode of Emmerdale focused on Jimmy and Nicola King's experience as the circumstances of the ongoing pandemic put a major strain on their marriage.
The pair quickly got on each other's nerves in quarantine, with Jimmy putting his foot in it many times, leading to some funny exchanges between the pair.
In one instance, Jimmy said Nicola's underwear draw was once like a luxury hamper, full of "stuffed food of goodies" like chocolate and champagne but now it was more like "a tin of sardines".

By Day 12 the couple were arguing drunk on the sofa, with Nicola telling Jimmy that him calling her Nico "makes her stomach turn".
Jimmy responded by calling his wife "high maintenance", while she said he looked like a "damaged potato".

The funny bickering between the couple led many viewers on Twitter to hail it as Emmerdale's best lockdown episode yet.

But the episode wasn't without its serious moments.
Towards the end, Nicola fully admitted to Jimmy that she wasn't happy with her life and felt useless.
When Jimmy wondered if he was the problem, Nicola told him: "It's not you, you're the only thing stopping my head from exploding."
Nicola went on to explain to her husband that she felt like this before lockdown and she knows she'll still feel the same when it ends.
But a few days later, while watching an episode of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Nicola had an idea and announced to Jimmy that she wants to start a business – and she knows exactly which one.

Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm on ITV as part of a new strategy to keep the soap on air throughout the pandemic.
