EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (January 21), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has unveiled a crucial piece of evidence in Cindy Beale’s attempted murder case, in the show’s latest episode.

This week, Cindy was struggling to trust the people around her, after receiving another deadly threat when a brick was thrown through her window.

Ian showed Cindy sympathy, and while he rejected her idea of running away to France together, he said she could move back in with him. However, it was suggested that he might have an ulterior motive.

Elaine later overheard George and Gina discussing their suspicions about Ian. She wanted to get involved, and lured Ian to The Vic.

At the pub, Elaine concocted a story and suggested that he sell Beale’s Eels to her. But Ian soon got suspicious and realised that he had been tricked.

With Ian away, George was able to call round again and speak to Cindy, where he asked if she had remembered anything else from Christmas. Cindy was left shocked when George implied that Ian might be behind her attack – but Ian arrived home at that moment.

The two men got into a tense argument, as they each accused the other of attacking Cindy. George snapped and hit Ian but left before the situation escalated further.

He returned to The Vic and released his anger in the barrel store. But as Elaine came to find him, he found blood on the floor, alongside the shovel that was used to hit Cindy.

After this crucial new discovery, was one of the Knights responsible for the attack?
