EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s episode (January 16), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders’ Cindy Beale has received a terrifying mystery threat, in the show’s latest episode.

This week, Lauren was arrested for attempted murder after Cindy told the police that she saw her running away from the scene of the crime.

While she was released, Lauren secretly told Peter that it was true that she was at the scene, as she found Cindy lying in the snow that night but left her for dead.

In today’s episode, Cindy returned home to Walford, but didn’t receive a warm welcome. She also wasn’t best pleased to find out that she would be staying with Reiss for the time being.

As Cindy’s return caused tension for the Knights, she and Junior spoke for the first time since the attack – but Cindy thought it best that they keep their distance.

Ravi phoned Cindy to ask her to keep quiet about his drug dealing, and she found out that Lauren had asked him to get her morphine yesterday.

She confronted Lauren in the café and was shocked to realise that Peter already knew this. Cindy followed them into the Square and ended up in another argument with Ian, where she protested still being seen as the bad guy by everyone.

Later, Peter opened up to Lauren and explained that he was terrified he was going to lose his mum again over Christmas.

Realising how much Peter is struggling, Lauren then called round to see Cindy to try and make amends, but Cindy was still convinced that she is hiding something.

The guilt eventually got too much for Lauren, and she decided to tell her the truth about the night of the attack. But before she could get the words out, a brick came flying through the window.

Cindy and Lauren read the note attached, which said: "You should have stayed dead. Now I’m coming for you."

Who sent this threat to Cindy, and could she be in more danger?
