EastEnders spoilers follow for the latest episode, which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and doesn’t air on TV until Thursday (December 19).
EastEnders has aired a romance twist for Martin Fowler after his major surgery, in the show’s latest episode.
This week, Martin and Ruby found out that Roman’s donor liver wasn’t viable, so Martin stepped forward to donate his own liver in a bid to save his son’s life.
Ruby was thrilled, but Martin’s decision wasn’t popular with Lily, who was worried that something might go wrong with his surgery.
Martin expressed his fears to Stacey and after the pair shared an emotional moment, he tried to kiss her. Stacey was surprised and pulled back, and Martin was left confused.

In today’s episode, Stacey was concerned about Martin’s surgery, and her worries were intensified by Mo’s hospital horror stories.
Meanwhile, Zack visited Martin in hospital ahead of his surgery, and he admitted that he kissed Stacey the previous night. Zack told him that it was a mistake and he needs to focus on Roman and Ruby.
Martin took this advice, and Ruby and Martin shared a tender moment before he went in for his surgery, where Ruby spoke about Roman getting a second chance at life.

Stacey told Jean that she had clashed with Martin and later admitted that she had turned down his advances and was now confused about the situation. Jean encouraged her to go to the hospital and tell him how she feels.
When Martin woke up after the surgery, Ruby was by his bedside and told him that he would be able to see Roman once he had been checked over.
Ruby explained that she regrets not telling Martin about his son, and he forgave her, just happy that Roman is going to be okay now.

"I should never have cut you out of our son’s life like that," she said. "Because that’s what he is, he’s ours. He’s not mine, he never was, certainly not now."
The pair had a heart-to-heart and Ruby kissed Martin’s hand, a gesture that Stacey witnessed as she arrived at the hospital.
She looked devastated by what she had seen, so is Stacey too late to tell Martin how she feels?
