Bobby Beale avoided serious disaster in EastEnders after receiving some surprising support.
Viewers have seen the teen struggling ever since he returned from his juvenile detention centre this past summer, having most recently been haunted by visions of his dead sister Lucy.
After being taunted by Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) over her past fling with Ian (Adam Woodyatt), Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) finally lost control on Thursday by trying to burn his own house down.

In Friday's (September 13) episode, Bobby was talked down by someone unexpected when his old nemesis Max Branning (Jake Wood) arrived just in time to stop him.
Once Max had managed to calm Bobby down, he suggested that the teen should get some professional help to talk through his grief — but Bobby wasn't sure he was ready to take that step.

"All you have to do is talk to someone," Max promised him, later saying: "Don't end up like me. You're smarter than that."

Max next went to Ian, who rejected any advice from Max even though he was clueless about how to help his son. To Ian's surprise, Max revealed that he'd agreed to let Bobby come stay with him for now.
"Your son is sick, Ian, and he needs help," Max insisted.
While all of the chaos was unfolding at the Beale household, Rainie was manipulating Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) into handing over all of her painkillers to keep the secret of Bobby's threat quiet.
