EastEnders has hinted at hope for Ruby Allen when Matt breaks down during her rape trial next week.
Matt is facing a prison sentence for assaulting Ruby last year and will appear in court alongside his friend Ross – who has also been charged.
When the day of the trial arrives, Ruby (Louisa Lytton) is full of regret for spiking Ross' drink and fears that it could be used against her.
Emboldened by support from Jay, Ruby still manages to make a big decision over the trial and also helps Stacey put her own demons to rest.
We already know that Stacey will struggle to cope when giving evidence at the trial, as memories of her own rape ordeal come back to haunt her.
After encouraging Stacey to put the past behind her, Ruby realises that she needs to do the same and later heads back to court to hear Matt and Ross' testimonies.

However, when Matt takes to the stand, he buckles under the pressure – suggesting that justice for Ruby could prevail after all.
By the end of the week, Ruby, Stacey, Martin and Jay are all anxiously awaiting the jury's verdict, but will Ross and Matt be found guilty or not?
EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One.
