Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has opened up about how he chose a baby name after welcoming his first child. Announcing the news last week, Shepherd confirmed that he and his wife, Hanni, had welcomed a baby girl named Constance Ita Shepherd, born on June 26.
Appearing on his On the Sofa podcast to talk to fellow Corrie star Colson Smith, Shepherd explained how they came about choosing the name Constance.
"What you do is when you're picking names, you Google," Shepherd explained. "You'll go French names, Italian names, something that's a bit, you know, European and posh. That's what we were thinking."

Shepherd said the couple were looking for something "unusual", adding: "Constance came up and it was probably the only one that we both agreed on."
When deciding, Shepherd said they both came up with names the other disliked, and he wrote off names if he knew someone with the same name who "was a bit of a dick".
