Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has responded to the recasting of his on-screen daughter Lily Platt.
It was confirmed this week that Grace Ashcroft-Gardner had taken over the role from Brooke Malonie, with the new star's first scenes airing on Monday.
Lily recently went off-screen for a few weeks, with her comeback and recasting coinciding with the Mick Michaelis prison escape, as she refused to let cousin Sam Blakeman into the classroom out of fear amid the villain's hunt for daughter Joanie.
Left to fend for himself, the ordeal has a deep impact on Sam and forms the foundation of an emotional new storyline for the youngster.
Reacting to the new Lily recast, David Platt actor Jack commented on an Instagram announcement post, enthusing: "Yay! Great to have part of the family Grace x."
