Coronation Street revealed a surprising ally for Cassie Plummer following her poisoning of Ken Barlow.

Cassie was up until recently acting as Ken's unofficial carer, but she had a sinister motive, secretly spiking his drinks to make him doze off, while she stole his credit card and used it to make expensive purchases.

Ken finally caught on to her scheme and confronted her this week, informing his and her families of how she'd been tricking him and making him ill.

Tonight's episode saw Cassie face the consequences of her actions, but there was one person who declared she was on her side.

Cassie gave her side of the story, claiming she drugged Ken as she didn't want to be back out on the job market and liked him being dependent on her, while using his card was a way of her "making a bit of money on the side".

Fiz asked Cassie for her keys and declared that she wanted her bags packed and out of the house by the time she came back for lunch.

Cassie then headed to the hospital wanting to make amends with Ken but was met with Steve, Tracy and Amy who threatened to call security.

Ken, however, agreed to let her say her piece and Cassie apologised, with Tracy present. Tensions rose as Cassie claimed the only reason Tracy was upset was because Cassie took away inheritance money from her.

"You hateful cow," Tracy responded, with Ken calling time on Cassie's visit, agreeing Cassie must pay for what she has done.

Cassie stopped off at the Rovers, and was reluctantly served by Jenny, before Amy and Steve arrived.

Cassie tried to apologise to Steve and claimed that her feelings for Steve were true, but he didn't believe her.

Adam Barlow then walked into the pub and ordered Cassie to get out.

"Do us a favour, don't come back," Steve told her.

Sat at the bus stop alone with her bags, Cassie was dejected, but her granddaughter offered some hope.

Hope told Cassie that it would likely all blow over and that she wanted her to stick around.

Hope then returned home angry and gave Fiz and Tyrone a hard truth: "I'd rather have a granny that loves me and makes mistakes than no granny at all."

Could Cassie be staying on the cobbles for a little longer?
