Coronation Street star Jenny Platt has spoken for the first time after it was announced that her character Violet Wilson will be returning to the show.
Violet is Dylan Wilson’s mum and appeared in the ITV soap between 2004 and 2008, before moving to London with her son – returning for a one-off episode set in the capital in 2011.
Dylan has been away from his mum for a while after moving to Weatherfield to live with his dad Sean Tully, but Violet is now returning to the cobbles for a short period, and Jenny has now reacted to the news.

Jenny posted a photo to Instagram of her reunion with actors Antony Cotton and Liam McCheyne, who play Sean and Dylan.

She wrote: "Well this has been fun!!! So lovely to be reunited with my screen son @liammccheyne and his Daddy @antonycotton after giving birth to him in the Rovers 15 years ago!! How time flies."
Cotton posted the same sweet photo, and captioned the post: "And Violet completes the rainbow! Been keeping this secret for a while now, but @jennifer.e.platt is back for a little stint with me and @liammccheyne and we’re keeping her on her toes! Welcome home Jen P! x"
Mccheyne, who also played Dylan in the 2011 London episode as a young child, wrote: "Well, well, well, 13 years it’s been since being reunited with the amazing @jennifer.e.platt. I’m honestly over the moon she’s back for this stint with me and @antonycotton. Where’s that time gone!
"Never a dull moment with these two. Stay tuned to see what’s to come."
Violet’s exciting return coincides with the school bullying storyline which is currently playing out, involving Dylan, Liam Connor and Mason Radcliffe.

In next week’s episodes, Sean will discover his son’s role in the bullying of Liam, with Dylan and Mason making his life a misery both at school and online.
This new chapter in the storyline will involve Violet arriving in Weatherfield to support her son, as Dylan faces the serious repercussions of his actions.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
