Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has confirmed why Ed Bailey's business goes up in flames later this week.
Ed faces more tension with his family over the next few days, following a suspicious fire at the builder's yard.
As we've previously revealed, Ed struggles to sell the business in upcoming episodes after Gary Windass pulls out of a planned purchase.
Before long, Ed's son Michael spots flames at the builder's yard and rushes inside to check whether his dad is in danger. Michael is pleased that there's no sign of Ed inside, but his relief turns to horror when he then gets trapped himself.

Although there are ultimately no casualties in the incident, the strange timing inevitably sparks questions over whether Ed committed arson in an insurance scam.
Early next week, local policeman Craig Tinker arrives at No. 3 and takes Ed in for questioning.
Michael wastes no time before making his own accusations, demanding to know whether Ed started the fire himself. Ed firmly denies it, but Michael isn't sure whether to trust him.
Down at the station, Ed tells DS Swain that he may have knocked over some white spirit by accident, but he didn't start the fire.

Ed is released pending further inquiries, but he faces another interrogation back at home.
Michael bitterly accuses Ed of starting the fire so that he could claim on the insurance and solve his financial woes. Ed is devastated by his son's apparent hatred for him as they clash.
Later in the week, Michael also risks worsening Ed's reputation with the rest of the family, getting on the phone to his brother James to tell him about the gambling debts and the fire.

Everything changes when Craig arrives to speak to Michael at the factory, confirming that the fire was started accidentally due to a faulty electrical heater.
Although Michael is relieved that Ed is in the clear, he feels guilty for making so many wild accusations. Can the Bailey family ever make amends?
