Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has shared a first look at the Rovers Return getting its grand re-opening later this month.

The iconic pub will be back in business in the New Year's Eve episode after a last-ditch plan from Jenny Connor and Daisy Midgeley.

In scenes airing just after Christmas, Jenny informs Daisy that their joint bid to buy The Rovers has been accepted.

Jenny and Daisy get straight to work on organising an opening date. After a quick chat with Waterfords, the company which briefly owned the pub, it's agreed that The Rovers can re-open in time for New Year's Eve.

On December 31, Jenny and Daisy are helped by returning employees Sean Tully, Glenda Shuttleworth and Gemma Winter-Brown, who head to the pub armed with boxes of booze.

Jenny and Daisy can also rely on support from the community, as the locals muck in and help to prepare the pub for the relaunch party.

Gary Windass does the honours of putting Betty Williams' picture back on the wall in pride of place.

Jenny, Glenda, Sean and Gemma kick the relaunch off with a bang by donning bad taste outfits for the occasion.

Most see the funny side, but one resident isn't impressed with the costumes.

Later, as the countdown to midnight begins, everyone heads out of the pub and joins Glenda in singing 'Auld Lang Syne'.

Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod first confirmed the fate of The Rovers in late October, warning that an illegal act would save the pub.

This could tie in with the new storyline which sees Jenny and Daisy trying to track down the money that was stolen from Underworld by Stephen Reid.

MacLeod told Digital Spy and other media: "[The Rovers] reopens on New Year's Eve, but the interesting thing is that the circumstances of it becoming open again are all tied up with Stephen's legacy.

"Somebody will do something that is at best, naughty, at worst, slightly criminal to get their hands on the keys to the pub and reopen it. So it will reopen, but the reopening of it will be based on this slightly shaky foundation of a criminal act."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Sunday, December 31 at 8pm on ITV1.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
