Coronation Street's Paul Foreman is robbed after cheating twist

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street tonight (July 3) aired a shock twist as Paul Foreman briefly cheated on his partner Billy and wound up robbed in the process.

Previously, Paul (Peter Ash) was diagnosed with motor neuron disease (MND) and has struggled with the condition ever since.

Bernie and Gemma planned a fundraiser to gather some money for Paul — a chilli-eating competition. Early in Monday's episode, Paul's mum, Bernie, visited her son and tried to build up excitement for the competition.

However, Paul said he wasn't in the mood as he never heard back from the job he applied for — although he did agree to his mum's use of crystals, to make her feel better.

Later, the competition kicked off and Gemma encouraged everyone to give generously. Dev, Chesney and Shona took part in the competition, with Shona winning. The cash was then counted and Bernie revealed that £800 had been raised for Paul.

However, back at the flat, Billy and Bernie argued over the aforementioned crystals, enraging Paul, who told them that their squabbling and interference weren't helping him. He stormed out and escaped to a hotel bar, where he met an old flame – Zac.

The two then caught up as they shared some drinks. Paul apologised for the way he had ended things, explaining he was "banged up." Later, Zac saw Paul dragging his feet on the way to the bathroom and assumed he was drunk. He also spotted the envelope of cash sticking out of his jacket. Zac then plied him with booze.

Eventually, Paul agreed to go to the hotel bedroom with Zac. Once there, Zac tried to kiss Paul. At first, Paul did respond to the kiss — but he rejected him in the end. He told Zac that he lived with his partner, Billy, who he loved, and said he had no desire to cheat.

However, they carried on drinking and Zac continued to give him alcohol. Eventually, Paul passed out. Zac snatched the envelope full of cash and left while Paul's phone silently as Billy rang him, adding to Paul's recent woes.
