Coronation Street reveals Mike's secret in Summer storyline

Coronation Street revealed Mike Hargrave's big secret on this evening's (January 13) episode amid the Summer Spellman storyline.

Viewers will know that Summer has offered to be a surrogate for Mike and his wife Esther, though a major spanner was thrown into those plans in tonight's scenes after Summer learned big news about Mike.

In the episode, Summer was told by Todd that he had been contacted by a member of Mike and Esther's old church called Ava, who claimed that she had an affair with Mike.

Shocked by the turn of events, Summer confronted Esther, who confirmed it was true, though they have agreed to put it behind them as a couple.

Still, Summer decided to meet Ava, where she also met her son Callum. Ava revealed that his dad is Mike – meaning he has a secret lovechild.

Summer confronted Mike about the revelation, as he admitted he had made a mess and wished that Callum could be a part of his and Esther's lives, but he cannot tell Esther the truth. However, Summer vowed to Mike that she would reveal all to his wife.

Appearing to let her get her way, Mike told Summer that Esther was upstairs painting the nursery. When Summer headed upstairs to drop the bombshell, however, the nursery was empty. She realised it was a trap just as Mike shut and locked the door behind her.

The shocking turn of events only got worse, as Summer was trapped in the room without her insulin, and begged Mike to let her out. However, he decided to drive off, leaving Summer without her phone.
